Isn’t it the time of year when you just want to drive to Vermont and cozy up by the fire at some quiet country Inn while the snow falls peacefully outside?
Well here you go – a totally relaxed, unpretentious little spot in the mountains of Vermont to unplug and unwind!
The Gables Inn is the epitome of a Vermont country Inn.
Located just outside the small town skiing mecca of Stowe Vermont, this 150 year old farmhouse has been converted into a full service inn and restaurant.
Christmases here – as you might imagine – are quaint.
My favorite thing about The Gables Inn, (besides the knotty pine paneling), is the attitude of the innkeepers:
The first line on our home page mentions that we are a 150 year old building. Still, some people walk in and ask us where the elevator is! The Gables Inn is a genuine 19th century farmhouse with creaky floors, some are even a little slanted, plaster walls and original wood beams. People who love it here feel the place exudes warmth and charm. However, it does not scream shiny and new. I guess if you think an old building should resemble the Vanderbuilt Mansion we might not be the place for you. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for an inn that is charming, unique, maybe a little quirky-you might even say typically Vermont, that’s who we are.

This is the perfect place for folks who just want to keep it real and cozy.
I hear they serve up some pretty tasty meals as well.
Some savory breakfast items that guests can choose from:
Diners can look out onto the snowy woods while enjoying a home cooked meal…
The Gables Inn is close to all that Stowe Vermont has to offer, even if you just want to take it easy and enjoy the snowy views.
ps….. it’s lovely in the summers too!
