House of weird angles

Somebody had fun with this house.

This trippy lil’ thing is located in Los Angeles, California. It is up for sale for only $389,900 – a bargain price for LA – no?

The listing says it was built in 1921. I’m going to assume there was an original structure under there somewhere dating back to 1921. But the angular windows and walls we see now are most definitely modern.

No word on why the designer went all Alice in Wonderland/Clockwork Orange, but it certainly has some eye-catching features.

I found this older photo depicting the house before it was painted:

(Are those lace curtains?)

The listing says the house has been “recently remodeled”. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in 4,000 square feet so it’s a lot larger than it looks from the exterior.

Inside, parts of this home are totally normal. Then there are the windows…

And the angles of the walls…

Somehow, the brown builder’s grade carpet seems out of place. A black and red speckled pattern or green super-shag would be more in line with the design – don’t you think?

I think I will pass on buying this one. I though my neighbors in Epping were weird when they built a round home?! At least their windows all over looked pictures of the Bay and it’s surrounding rivers and wetland. They also created even sq. shaped walls for the bedrooms for easy decorating.

Wow! I’m generally not too impressed with what I call Frank Lloyd Wrong avant garde designs, but this house is really rather interesting and quite pretty. I especially like the interior.

I think I would feel dizzy or sick navigating and looking at the odd angles.

There is a house near me that my dad did all the stonework on.It is a custom design and still ahead of it’s time. The angles were so bad on the interior none of the furniture fit so they had to redo the drywall in all the rooms to help get furniture that would fit the home.It is a magnificent home to look at still.:) Great post :)

LOL, I’m sure someone would love it, but it’s a Feng Shui nightmare 😉
