I really didn’t know much about this cottage at all – I don’t even know how to pronounce its name. (Dutch? Finish?)
I came across pictures of it on the website Small House Swoon – which is pure small house eye candy for the tiny house enthusiast.
My curiosity got the best of me so I did a little digging around to see if I could locate this amazing cottage.
Here is what I found: charming Kvale Hytte Cottage is located in the planned community called Conover Commons in Redmond, Washington.
Conover Commons Cottages was developed and constructed by The Cottage Company in 2004.
The community was designed to be pedestrian/neighbor friendly, so that you could sit out on your massive front porch and socialize with the passersby.
This particular cottage was designed by Ross Chapin.
The interior has vaulted ceilings and everything is either white or white-washed, making the 1,069 square foot cottage feel so much larger.
Apparently it really is that green out the windows for the following reasons:
- It is the Pacific Northwest
- Everything inside is white
- The house is surrounded by five acres of permanently preserved woodland
Isn’t it dreamy?
I love everything about it. Except for the cowhide rug.
This cottage was most recently up for sale in 2015.
The Cottage Company Facebook page tells us:
In a Cottage Company tradition, owners name their homes. This is Kvale Hytte Cottage, named in honor of the owners’ Norwegian heritage.
I was close!
Any guesses on what this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom 1,069 square foot cottage was listed for?
$546,000!
I love everything about it… except for the cowhide rug, and the steep price tag.
But somebody was willing to pay for it.
Records indicate that this cutie was sold in 2015. And it is lovely!

I’ve read about Conover Commons – all the houses are beautiful! And yes, it is really green here in the Pac NW. The price we pay is all the rain we have to endure!
