Today I would like to invite you into a contemporary mountain beauty from my neck-of-the-woods…
Come in, come in – this house is extremely pleasant.
Well just a minute… before we begin our virtual tour, have a look at the outside:
This house is located about 40 minutes from Canon City, Colorado and is currently listed at $645,000. It has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths (4,100 square feet) on 46 acres of land.
And expansive views…
The exterior of the house is pretty typical of newer construction homes in Colorado, but it was the interior that warmed my fickle heart:
I love the passive solar design and the warm, sun-absorbing terra-cotta clay tile floors. This house was conscientiously built to be environmentally friendly and it includes “some recycled denim insulation“, according to the listing at greenhomesforsale.com.
Recycled denim? Wasn’t I just complaining about any old crap being shoved into the walls for insulation in old houses? But it sounds so hip and trendy when the house is new!
Here’s what recycled denim insulation looks like:
So it’s not actually an old pair of blue jeans crumpled up and stuffed in the wall. It really does look and function like conventional insulation but has no chemical irritants – it’s even safe enough for children to touch!
Anyway, the wood posts and beams in this mountain home are just stunning…
As are the contrasting and delicate light fixtures:
You can see a bit more of the kitchen from this angle:
How about those amazing natural views over coffee at dawn, or dinner at dusk?
I wish there were more interior pictures because the description in the listing sounds so marvelous:
“Soapstone counters on bar and in kitchen with butcher block. Large pantry, separate mud room. Large master suite on first floor, connecting sun room. Steam shower, jacuzzi in master bath. Soapstone floors and shower. Hard wood floor in master. Dramatic soapstone hearth in living room with efficient heatilator fireplace.”
There is something so appealing about soapstone floors… not to mention a soapstone hearth in the living room.
This whole house just emanates warmth and love for the natural environment… nevermind the sweeping views.
Did I mention it comes with a greenhouse?
Have a great (and green) Monday!
