How ’bout we ring in the New Year with a cheery red schoolhouse converted into a home?
This cutie-pie is located outside of Spokane, Washington. I found the little red schoolhouse on one of my favorite old house websites: Circa Old Houses
Formerly known as the “Occident School”, this adorable conversion was for sale up as recently as November of 2015.
Here’s what it looked like before being renovated:
It was in pretty rough shape. But thanks to some vision and elbow grease, the 911 square foot building is now a cozy single family home.
Have a look inside…
The 1902 school building last sold in 2013 and was renovated over the next 2 years to include a new foundation, new roof, and mechanical systems.
As you can see, the old chalk boards were preserved as well as the windows, beadboard ceilings and walls.
Notice the 2 woodstoves at either end of the window wall:
On the opposite wall there is an old fashioned gas cook stove…
…strategically located right outside the mini-kitchen:
The red & white color scheme adds to the vintage nostalgia.
Even the bathroom is red & white:
Apart from the bell-towered school house, the property includes several outbuildings: a guest cottage, 1 car garage, and multiple sheds.
It was listed at $219,000. No word on if it sold or is just taking a break from the market.
