Rezoned and Repurposed: The Victorian Church Inn
Today I am featuring another local conversion just down the highway from me - a church that was converted into a residential rental and has recently been given new life as a vacation rental.
The Victorian Church Inn is located in Florence, Colorado. It dates back to 1902 when it was built as the First Church of Science.
The church was converted to a house in the 1970′s and rented out for the next few decades. It was then vacated and was for sale for a long time – I remember seeing the listing a year or two ago. Then a local couple bought the building last fall and spent the next few months fixing it up and redecorating.
It is now rented as Victorian-themed vacation getaway.
According to Barb (the owner) the old church still has “all the original stained glass windows, hardwood floors, high ceilings with hanging lights”.
The main level of the former church features an open concept but it is subdivided into a formal living room, dining area, and television area.
Many of the portraits on the walls were painted by Barb’s husband who is a local artist.
The Victorian Church Inn was recently featured on a historic homes tour in Florence. You can read more about that here.
The original second floor choir loft is now the largest of the 2 bedrooms.
Barb graciously invited me over to have a look in person but I had to decline because I didn’t want to subject her lovely building to my two little monsters. It’s tough to bring my kiddos to certain antique houses because they are so rough on everything (my poor old house knows this first-hand!)
The kitchen of the former church is teeny tiny but very quaint with Barb’s vintage decorating touch…
The Victorian Church Inn can be rented nightly or weekly for romantic getaways or for small gatherings. It’s the perfect space for Victorian-themed weddings – right in the picturesque antique capitol of Colorado!

[And thanks to Barb for letting me feature this church-turned living space!]
