I’m just crazy about this place!

I first saw it a couple of weeks ago in a zillow.com “unique homes for sale” article. Then, two weekends ago, I happened across it on an “Extreme Homes” segment on HGTV. So I knew I needed to find a spot for it here on Housecrazy.

Located near New Paltz, New York, this fascinating dome home can actually rotate to take advantage of the sun’s location in the sky for optimal passive solar heating and cooling.

Currently listed at  $1,200,000, this 2,300 square [round?] foot home has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

It is absolutely stunning! On the HGTV Extreme Homes show, the owner said she chose all whites and neutrals to compliment the natural wood hues and to create a calming atmosphere. Mission accomplished!

The eco friendly design offers a delicate blend of aesthetics, functionality and energy efficiency. Beautiful bamboo floors, custom wood and stone cabinets, large open spaces will make you feel at peace. Central spiral staircase takes you to the private upper rooms and balcony.

I wish I was able find more pictures of the interior decor, but there are a couple of photos of the incredible dome structure:

Apparently, this was a type of “kit home” that the owners special-ordered from Europe!

I don’t know what it is about these round domiciles that I love so much… but this particular one has an extra special selling feature:

Bored of the view out the window? Just push a button and move a few feet!
