(Can you tell I’m amped up about this??)
It’s one of those houses that I’ve always loved, ever since I first moved to Canon City. Built in a Santa Fe/Territorial style, this vintage home is the real deal – not some new-build imitation.
The hacienda has been well cared for over the decades. It also sits on a really intriguing corner lot with a backyard courtyard that butts up against a mini canal. The setting is just magical.
But before I show you the courtyard, have a look inside…
Today I am featuring historic Honeysuckle Cottage in southern France.
Honeysuckle Cottage is a vacation rental and a dream come true for UK expats Sue and Paul Brooke. They took early retirement when they bought this holiday guest cottage and now live in the cottage next door which is named Rose Cottage.
The two houses share a garden courtyard that is lush with cherry blossoms, Jasmine, Virginia creeper, and of course, honeysuckle.
We found it all by chance and it was a very impulsive buy as we were just on holiday in this beautiful area at the time.

(Sound a little reminiscent of Frances Mayes in Under the Tuscan Sun who bought her dream house while on vacation in Tuscany!)
Paul and Sue’s cottages are located on the southern edge of the quaint the medieval village of Alaigne. The conjoined cottages feature abundant views of the rolling French countryside:
