I saw this historic cottage on Old House Online and I think I peed my pants a little. [Did she just write that?]

I had to share it with you.

This tiny home was built in the 1870’s and measures in at just 300 square feet!

Known as “Round Pond Cottage”, the pint-sized treasure is located in Round Pond, Maine.

Here’s a winter shot I found on Pinterest:

The owners don’t know definitively who built the house – or why -but they have gleaned from local records that the the builder was perhaps an architect who created the house to model the mansard-roofed Second Empire style in the area.

It’s not for sale :( but the current owners graciously allowed an architectural photographer in to take some pictures. These images by┬áBrian Vanden Brink are wonderful eye candy for small houses lovers. And old house lovers, and house lovers in general.

Have a look:

This mini-house has been owned by the same devoted family since 1972.

Used as a vacation home, the wee-bit mansard roof cottage was renovated over the years and furnished with wonderful antiques and coastal Maine souvenirs.

There were no pictures of a kitchen or bathroom, but there is this:

It is a vacation home after all!

Truthfully, there is in fact an indoor bathroom (not pictured) but it was not added until 1999 when the owners did a total renovation.

Out back there is also a deck connecting to a shed and bunkhouse.

In a big crazy world, it’s nice to see a little space of love.
