This unusual abode is located in West Haven, Connecticut. It is indeed part lighthouse, part tug boat and part regular old house. Wait, what?
It’s odd, that’s for sure. And if you are looking for something that no one else has, this would be the place because it’s up for sale.
Here on House Crazy I’ve covered some lighthouses, and some boats converted to houses, but never a lighthouse/boat hybrid. Until now.
The house is connected to the lighthouse and tugboat by a deck – and yes, the tugboat is real. Or was real. Now it is 288 square feet casita.
Altogether, this nautical compound encompasses 3184 sq. ft with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
The decor is nothing out of the ordinary. Grandma’s house kind of stuff.
But there are some seaworthy references…
The house actually has an elevator which goes from the walk-out basement up to the third floor of the lighthouse. The top of the lighthouse can be accessed by a wooden ladder.
At the top of the lighthouse you have panoramic views of West Haven and Long Island Sound in the distance:
The confounding thing about this lighthouse/tugboat house is that it is not even located on the water.
The ocean is quite a ways from the house – as you can see in this photo taken from the top of the light deck:
Somebody had a sense of humor.
The list price for this interesting place is $425,000. You can view the complete listing here.
