You, yes YOU, can spend the night in this incredible house!

The “Dragon House” is located in Westhall England, near Halesworth on the eastern coast.

This most unusual home was inspired by a sketch from a Russian architect. A British couple took the concept from the drawing and designed and built their dream home themselves.

They now host guests in their house as a bed & breakfast, so you can meet the owners, get a personalized tour, and spend the night in this amazing abode!

Years in the making, the Dragon House won the prestigious 2012 Homebuilding and Renovating Award.

The homeowners’ talents and sense of fun are on display in every inch of this property…

There is a lot going on thematically with this place, but it is named for the whimsical creature that is guarding the chimney:

(Am I the only one who hears a primordial HISS when I look at that thing??)

There’s no part of this house that won’t make your jaw hit the floor – so let’s have a look inside!

Wowzers.

I want to point out [in the photo above] the twisted elm tree trunk that the homeowners found in a ditch – it now anchors the staircase.

The crazy kids who built this house – pictured below – used locally sourced and repurposed materials to construct their imaginative masterpiece.

The structure is timber-framed and made with various other materials such as corrugated iron, straw bale walls, and bricks from the original farmhouse that sat on the property.

The name of the spread is Belle Grove Farm but the remarkable house is more affectionately known by locals as the Dragon House at Westhall.

The homeowners didn’t think they would be able to secure building permits for their vision, but the local government actually got on board with the funky home. It has since become a tourist attraction for the region.

The Dragon House has been featured in various magazines and television shows – no surprise there!

There are 2 large bedroom suites available for nightly rentals, but they don’t come cheap at upwards of $480 per night!

Personally, I would pay that price (or more) just to sleep in one of those royal beds and get a personal tour from the home owner/builders!

We look at a lot of unusual homes here at House Crazy, but this one is definitely worth a special mention.

Not many people out there could (or would) dream up such a unique house. There are even fewer who could actually build the thing themselves!!

Kudos to Nick & Jo!
