The Zadge is behind one of my favorite Colorado blogs: Blue Skies and Yellow Dogs. She often laments on her blog about her 1896 Victorian home in Denver that she lovingly refers to as “Old Vicky”.

I have been pestering The Zadge to let me do a post on Old Vicky for some time now and she has finally agreed, much to my delight because The Zadge has taken Old Vicky from old house meh, to WOW house!

Have a look at some of the work Old Vicky had done recently under the discerning eye of The Zadge:

This is how Old Vicky looks today, but below is what she looked like when The Zadge purchased her in 2009:

Now Old Vicky was no eye-sore to begin with… no, she was a nice, sturdy, decent home in good condition.

Here’s the before photos:

Lots of beige, but nice. Nice wood floors, beautiful mantel…

Nice, nice, nice.

The kitchen was not bad either… certainly not high-end, but nice.

The bathroom was not hideous

But nothing special – just generic bathroom stuff.

And now, here are the after photos:

I had to sweep my little jaw up off the floor when I saw the after photos – The Zadge has some good taste!

Check out the kitchen after extensive renovations:

The kitchen was the biggest project with a total reconfiguration of space…

Love the glass tile backsplash!

Love, LOVE the exposed brick walls!

Remember that generic bathroom?

Look at her now:

Sexy!

The bedrooms also got the romantic treatment…

The color choices are so soothing and serene… lots of inspiration here.

As you can see, The Zadge has transformed Old Vicky into the most dazzling house in the hood! Never mind “nice” – she’s positively SPARKLING!

The Zadge’s next big project is a major garage renovation/conversion to a funhouse/studio. You can follow along with The Zadge’s adventures in life and renovations at her blog Blue Skies and Yellow Dogs.

We are headed for the hills this weekend… well, 12,000 feet above sea level is a little higher than a hill, but you get the picture.

Our first stop will be overnight in Salida, Colorado and from there we plan to make the trek up Cottonwood Pass.

Colorado is unique in that you could be wearing your bathing suit one hour and have to put on long skivvies the next – if you go up in elevation.

It will be 90 degrees today in our little town, but when we get to the top of the mountain, it might be snowing!

Gotta love Colorado.
