Well hello there friends and fellow house addicts. If you are reading this, my first post, then we can make the assumption that you are interested in houses. Lots of people are. I read blogs all the time about houses, house decorating, house renovating, house hunting and house admiring. But how far will you go to get your house fix? If you tend to wander into the realm of crazy, obsessive house fanatic – dream about houses at night, run red lights because you are busy gawking at houses, have heart palpitations when you spot a for sale sign – then this is the place for you.
My plan is to feature unique, beautiful and bizarre houses from around my neighborhood and around the world. I will also share my funny/crazy anecdotes of house-hunting (which I do obsessively) and house-renovating (which I do reluctantly because it takes away from my house-gazing time). Join me for discussions about how house-love has affected your life and your sanity. This will be a sort-of group therapy session for those who can never get enough of houses. (Did I mention that I used to be a social worker?)
I am uber-hyped to share all my house fixations with you and welcome you into my own unique home: an 1870’s brick Gothic Revival!
I will share pics here and embellish my blog as I learn the many intricacies of the technical side of blogging. It will probably take me a while to get the hang of it, I’m one of those techno idiots who doesn’t know an HTML from a J-PEG.
I also wanted to give a shout-out to my inspiration, Julia, over at http://hookedonhouses.net/ – her Hooked on Houses site was the first blog I ever read about houses and is now a solid part of my daily routine (up there with brushing my teeth, consuming my morning OJ, and scanning the new MLS listings). I thought Julia’s concept and blog were brilliant and I thought I could add a little something to the house-blogging world by taking the reader into the darker side of house love.
In the near future, look for posts on: my first (house) love; the ones that got away; house-hunting nightmares; and the truth about owning an old house.
So please join me as I share my journey into and through house insanity, and know that you are not alone.
